"Bronze Medal - Henri IV Marie De Medici And The Dauphin - Circa 1605 - Guillaume Dupré"
Bronze Medal "Henri IV, Marie de Medici and the Dauphin" Circa 1605 Signed Guillaume Dupré The composition represents a redesign and clarification of a smaller medal that Dupré made in 1603 to celebrate the heir of Henri IV. The dauphin, future Louis XIII, stands between his parents, dressed as Mars and Minerva. With one foot planted on a dolphin's head, his usual attribute, the dolphin wears his father's helmet. Henri IV was already very impressed by the previous medal and issued letters patent authorizing Dupré to make as many copies in as many materials as he wished. Dupré obviously understood that his rights included the redesign and enlargement of the design.
