Chinese carved inkstone representing two dragons face to face in front of a smooth surface symbolizing a body of water. Very beautiful sculpted piece with great finesse in the execution of details. The most beautiful of these stones came from the Duan River where they were chosen for their lighter eyes serving as decoration for the creation of the sculpture. Very good state of conservation. Note the face to face presence of these two magnificent dragons used for the erosion of the ink stick by the scholar preparing by this gesture the first stage of the writing ritual.
