New beautiful oil/canvas by Gaston Thiery representing a Creuse landscape, signed lower left + countersigned and titled on the back in the painter's hand "Chemin chartier dans la moor" Format of the canvas alone without frame 22x27cm. It is therefore a beautiful post-impressionist canvas by Gaston Thiery, who here paints a landscape in Creuse, I think around 1980/90, the painter's period of maturity where he then found his characteristic style, rather polished, in small successive touches, here in a palette of mauves, blues, browns, ochres, oranges... I no longer present Gaston Thiery, emblematic painter of the Crozant school, one of the last who experienced some of the school's tenors , mainly Léon Detroy who will give him valuable advice; Moreover, Thiery's first works are logically very influenced by the master of Gargilesse. On the other hand, it is in Fresselines that Gaston Thiery will settle down, in a workshop which he will keep until his death. Painter born in Lille in 1922. After classical studies in France and Belgium, he entered the Beaux-Arts in the decoration workshop. In 1940, faced with the war, he took refuge in Creuse at Fresselines. Gaston THIERY landscape painter, considered the continuation of the Crozant school, will see his works distributed in Europe, Japan, the United States and are today part of numerous public and private collections. He exhibited in the biggest Parisian galleries. From 1965, requested by Paul ANDRAUD, master weaver in Aubusson, he created his first tapestry cartoons. This adventure will last 30 years and will see the creation of more than 100 boxes. An accomplished artist, invested in the life of his village, he left his mark on the Creuse valley from 1940 to his death. There are today several works on his work, including a catalog raisonné.
