Model of one of thirteen medals issued by the Art Union of London in a series illustrating the history of British art and encouraging metal engraving. The medals were specially ordered and issued annually to members of the Art-Union. The scene is typical of the work of the painter William Etty (1787-1849), famous in his time. The bronze medal awarded was 57mm; the bust of Etty in profile was engraved on the obverse and this scene of Venus and Cupid on the reverse.
Hanging hook soldered on the back.
Overall in very good condition, slight dents - see photos.
