"Brignogan - Louis Roger"
Beautiful watercolor signed by Louis Roger (Paris 1874 - Paris 1953), representing a view of Brignogan (Finistère) at the beginning of the 20th century. The watercolor bears the number 342 on the back. Born in 1874 in Paris, Louis Roger first studied at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Rennes with the ceramic painter Félix Lafond (1850-1917), before entering the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he will have Benjamin Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens as masters. In 1899, he won the Rome Prize for painting for his painting "Hercules between Vice and Virtue" (1899). The following year, he received a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. He then exhibited regularly at the Salon of the Society of French Artists, of which he became a member from 1905. He won the Rosa Bonheur prize in 1907. He created numerous watercolors representing views of Finistère.
