"Chapter Cross, Silver And Vermeil - Canon Pectoral Cross - Nîmes Cathedral Cross"
Second half of the 19th century Created in February 1865 by Monseigneur Plantier France Superb cross of the chapter of Nîmes in solid silver and vermeil in its original box (Armand-Calliat) with its moire red ribbon. It was designed by Pierre Bossan, the manufacturing comes from the great Lyonnais goldsmith Armand-Calliat. The crosses are not datable, unless their owner is known. (here, looking at the box and the textile, we are still in the 19th century) This cross is octagonal, forming four full arms, separated by four fleurons. The central medallion is in blue enamel, bearing on one side the image of Mary Immaculate, with the legend: MONSTRA TE ESSE MATREM, on the other, the effigy of Our Holy Father Pius IX with the legend: PIUS PP IX / MDCCCLXV. Cross and ribbon in beautiful condition! Note: small spots of yellowing in the box, and small scratches, detached rear hinges. Cross dimensions: Height: 10 cm Width: 9.7 cm
