It is signed by Lievin De Winne (beautiful coast) History Lievin De Winne, born in 1841 in Ghent and died in 1880 in Brussels, is a recognized painter. He was a student of Félix de Vigne and Hendrik Van der Haert. Taken in by Félix de Vigne after the death of his father when he was 14, Lievin De Winne trained at the Academy of Fine Arts. He then stayed in Paris from 1852 to 1855, then in Holland. He settled permanently in Brussels in 1861. In 1970, he made a trip to Italy. He is particularly recognized as a portrait painter. He then produced numerous portraits of characters from the court and Belgian high society. One of these paintings "Portrait of a Woman" is in the Ghent Museum.
