"René Ménard (1862-1930), Attributed To, Talloires (alpes) Large Symbolism Painting Late 19th Century"
Work attributed to Emile René Ménard. Certainly: View of Talloires and Lake Annecy. Emile René Ménard (1862-1930) was very early influenced by the work of artists from the Barbizon School. Thus, his work often evokes ancient and mythological scenes, the painter also took to the game of landscapes during his various travels. The artist showed his particular interest in cliffs and mountainous landscapes, more specifically for the Alpine valleys of Savoy. The views of Lake Geneva and Lake Annecy are among his favorite subjects, notably accentuating the contrast of the cold colors of the snow-capped peaks and the warm, summery colors of the shores. Our painting is close to the views of Talloires executed by the painter, which corresponds perfectly with the geological situation of the region. Oil on framed canvas. 81 x 58 cm (canvas). 118 x 101 cm (frame).
