This pair of paintings portrays in a truly splendid way two spouses belonging to an important noble family, as evidenced by the noble coats of arms that appear on the canvases.
They are certainly works with all the characteristics of the most beautiful French portraiture of the eighteenth century and in particular they present all the stylistic connotations of the production of the famous Parisian master Nicolas de Largillière and his workshop.
