Pair of portraits depicting French nobles

Nicolas de Largillière (Paris 1656-1746) workshop

This pair of paintings portrays in a truly splendid way two spouses belonging to an important noble family, as evidenced by the noble coats of arms that appear on the canvases.

They are certainly works with all the characteristics of the most beautiful French portraiture of the eighteenth century and in particular they present all the stylistic connotations of the production of the famous Parisian master Nicolas de Largillière and his workshop.

The use of blue and pink hues in the drapery and the monochrome background bring out the faces of the protagonists who appear smooth and bright.

This in the typical ways of his depictions that immortalized hundreds of high-ranking characters in the Paris of the '700.

Our two portraits are an excellent example of the works of his renowned workshop.

The canvases, with antique gilded tray frames, are in good condition and have already been cleaned.

The canvases measure 80 x 64 cm

The frames cm. 100 x 84
