Giuseppe Bessi
Born in 1857 in Tuscany in Volterra, after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, he opened his workshop in Volterra.
He quickly moved from the status of a unanimously recognized sculptor to that of director of the School of Fine Arts in Volterra.
He taught “Silhouette and plasticity” for a long time.
The Tuscan town of Volterra is the region of alabaster.
Many of his works can be found today in museums and private collections around the world.
