First illustrated edition of 18 ORIGINAL COLOR COMPOSITIONS by FOUJITA (the title page only announces 17): Frontispiece, 12 out-of-text etchings and 5 chapter headings.
Edition of 458 copies. Here, copy on Japan noted "AUTHOR'S COPY" on the receipt, with the etchings in three states (black with remarks, colors only, final in colors).
Our copy therefore has an additional out-of-text etching, placed on page 136, it represents a couple lying head to tail, it is also in 3 states.
Printed under the artistic direction of Edouard Chimot, on the presses of Master Printer B. Coulouma in Argenteuil for the text and for the etchings by the intaglio printing art workshops “La Roseraie”, in Paris for the Société Nouvelle d'Edition d'Art Devambez.
