Paul Louis GENUYS, born in 1881 and died in 1937, is the son of the architect Charles Genuys, professor at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris. He enrolled at the Paris School of Fine Arts and the School of Decorative Arts, where he was a student of his father Charles-Louis. He obtained his architect's diploma in 1906. He was a member of the SADG, from which he resigned in 1933 to protest against the poor conditions given to graduates of the School of Decorative Arts. From 1905, he worked in the historic monuments service, classifying movable objects. He entered the 1913 competition, which was finally postponed to 1920 because of the world conflict. At the end of the competition, he was successively appointed chief architect of historic monuments of the departments of Pyrenees, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Loire-Atlantique, Finistère, Eure and the districts of Versailles, Rambouillet, Soissons and Château-Thierry. He also works in Paris, at the Hôtel de Sully and at the Ecole Militaire; he restored the castles of Nantes, Goulaine and Maisons-Laffitte. He participated in the Decorative Arts Exhibition of 1925 by planning the French Village school. He is also the author of private buildings and especially the Dreux station in 1932, an imposing construction in brick, stone and slate with the silhouette of a manor. Also in 1932, he built a villa in the Villa Madrid subdivision in Neuilly-sur-Seine for Mr. Marquet de Vasselot, curator of the Cluny museum. From 1912, he taught geometric drawing at the National School of Decorative Arts, where he succeeded his father in 1921; he directed the architectural composition workshop there until 1937.
