"Ostrich Egg Globe - World Map"
Pretty globe in real ostrich egg covered with a thin layer of "icing". The world map is based on a 17th century map and a concentric longitudinal strip contains portraits of the great navigators of the century. Very pretty and fine work carried out during the 20th century. The egg rests on a brass base. Dimensions: Height 15 cm approx. / Diameter 12 cm approx. Tiny flake (barely 1 mm) over central India. It is possible that this lack of image comes from a more marked granulation on the surface of the eggshell.
