Alfred DUBUCAND: Sculptor born in Paris on November 25, 1828. Exhibited at the salon from 1867 to 1883. Animals around the theme of hunting captivated him and when he discovered the Orient, he was in turn fascinated by the North African fauna. Which he sometimes depicts with humans. His attention to detail and his ability to capture suspended movement place him in the category of great animal sculptors, such as Barye father and son, Pierre Jules Mène, or Emmanuel Frémier.
