Louis XVI desk circa 1780 stamped J. CAUMONT Jean Caumont (1736 - 1800) Master on December 14, 1774 H. 75 cm, W. 93 cm, D. 57 cm Cf. Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Francais du XVIII Siecle, 1989, p . 169 et seq. Jean Caumont founded his workshop and boutique in Paris, rue Traversiére. He took an active part in the Revolution and was elected justice of the peace at the commercial court. His Transition and Louis XVI style works are very varied, both in their manufacture and in the materials used. In addition to various roll-top desks, bouillotte tables, pedestal tables, he particularly excelled in the production of secretaries and chests of drawers. Their compositions, often requested, are elegant and full of finesse. In its production we find furniture with mahogany or satin veneer. Around 1795, Jean Caumont ceased his activity and his son Claude Emmanuel succeeded him in his workshop. Inv.no.3,286 €6,800
