"Maenad With Cymbals Early 19th Century, To Be Restored"
For once here is a painting in its original state, so there would be cleaning and a little restoration to be expected.
inspired by antiquity it is a scene representing a bacchante or a maenad playing cymbals in a bucolic landscape.
the undressed young woman is charming with a pleasant face; she is lying on an animal skin while waving her arms and one leg reaching towards the sky.
she is covered with a light chastity veil and wears beautiful jewelry, including on her ankle.
everything around her recalls and symbolizes the god Bacchus and his bacchanalia: the jug of wine overturned on the ground on the left, the tambourine, near her legs, as well as the Athenian woman with the glowing sacred fire and of course the bust of Pan or satyr appearing on the rocks
This canvas needs cleaning and has a small accident with a lack of paint visible in the photos.
pretty frame with keys and original canvas.
the frame is period with a beautiful decoration of wooden palmettes and gilded stucco.

a charming picture imagined would just be the result when cleaned!

dimensions:
44 cm long by 36 cm high and 57 cm long by 50 cm high with the frame.

we deliver and ship everywhere in the world, please contact us for a free quotation.

ps:
Please read the description carefully, it says “to be restored”!!!
I think it is quite clear for the majority of people who have a somewhat logical mind, there is no point in calling me 4 times on a Sunday afternoon with two different numbers and sending me an email to reserve this painting for me and request an invoice even if you have a pseudo celebrity who gives you pseudo rights!!!!
And to tell me the next day by message "that you are canceling the sale because your restorer working for the Louvre (you know the museum, one of the largest in the world) has advised you against this purchase because you poor ignorant merchant does not have indicated in your description "old restorations...."
yet “to be restored” speaks to a lot of people who don’t necessarily have an oversized IQ or ego!
and all this for a charming painting at a little over 1000 euros, which given the nudity has little to hide and speaks for itself!
so please no need to be incorrect, rude and ill-mannered keep it simple, honest and respectful and I will be happy to work with you, many thanks!
