"Large Inkwell In Bronze And Marble, Eagle With Spread Wings, Signed A Marionnet (1852-1910)"
Important rectangular desk inkwell in bronze with double patina representing an eagle with outstretched percahtn wings on a rock. It rests on a veined marble with a molded border supported by a gilded bronze base. The tier is decorated with two inkwells covered complete with their glassware (one of the glasses is glued back together, see last photo). This bronze is signed A. Marionnet on the base of the rock. Albert Marionnet (1852-1910), renowned bronze maker, engraver and founder whose workshop located in Paris supplied the most important luxury boutiques at the end of the Second Empire and the beginning of the Third Republic. His works are presented at the Musée d'Orsay. Our inkwell is in very good condition, only one of the glassware of one of the two inkwells has been glued back together.
