"Pair Of Porcelain Bottle Signed Jacob Petit"
Pair of baluster-shaped bottles in polychrome porcelain. The bottles have a decoration on an azure blue background with rocaille elements in relief enhanced with gold. A fine decoration of garlands of polychrome flowers adorn the belly and neck of the bottles. On the neck of each bottle, four young men and young women figures in relief lean against each other. They wear 18th century costumes. The cap decorated with flowers highlighted with gold threads on a white background is removable. Each bottle bears the JP monogram in blue undercover for Jacob Petit. Restoration period work. Circa 1830-1840. Some small losses to the gold.
Jacob Mordochée, known as Petit (1796-1865), studied in the studio of the painter Gros. After a major tour of Europe, around 1830 he settled in Fontainebleau where he opened a factory. The eccentricity and eclecticism of his style characterizes Jacob Petit's numerous productions.
