"Large Pair Of Organ Buffet Angels – 19th Century"
Here are two expressive angels who probably once accompanied the musicality of religious ceremonies by enthroned at the top of a church organ case. Large in size and positioned as a mirror, they framed the pipes of the organ and thus participated, symbolically, in the sacredness of the notes by accompanying their elevations.
In wood, and as if to emphasize the celestial nature of the angels, only the wings benefit from a fine sculpture. Some gaps but in good condition.
Dimensions of 75 cm long by 83 cm high and 15 cm deep.
