Impressive Asmat ancestor skull. The Asmats kept the skulls of their ancestors. Decorated then exhibited during ceremonies.
This skull (or Ndalnbirkus) is decorated with a headdress of shells and feathers. A large shell serves as a nasal ornament (Bipane). Its eyes are also decorated with seeds and glass beads.
