"Antique Fan, Mother-of-pearl And Gouache, Circa 1860, Venus Surrounded By Putti"
Antique fan. Superb engraved, gilded and pierced mother-of-pearl frame. The leaf of paper lined with skin. It is painted in gouache of a woman, probably Venus, surrounded by putti. On the sides, two cartels, one with a putto playing a harp, the other with a putto carrying a basket of flowers. Some wear on the leaf, an old discreet restoration on a master strand, visible in the photos. It measures 11,02 inches closed and 20,47 inches in closed diameter.
