"17th Century Capipote"
Capipote, 17th century virgin and child procession. These sculptures were intended to be dressed in fabric clothing to parade during religious festivals, only the faces and hands were detailed. The representation is primitive and naive due to the simplified work of the mass of wood in the center and the rather succinct sculpture of the hands. The virgin's eyes are almond-shaped, the nose is straight, the bridge is marked, the small lips are hemmed. On the faces and hair, worn polychromy and missing parts.
