Pair of candlesticks in chiseled and gilded bronze in Louis XV style.Slightly twisted curved shaft with 3 sides and scalloped base with alternating butterflies, bees, acanthus, shells.
Beautiful quality of carving and gilding, beautiful nervousness.
“SSS” engraved under a candle holder.
Louis-Philippe period (1835)
A pair of identical torches, delivered for King Louis-Philippe to the Château de Versailles, is preserved in the Mobilier National.
Maury fils, Combes and Company provided the Garde-meuble for the Versailles service, on 26 January 1835, with 3 pairs of torches.
