A silver mounted tortoiseshell snuff box of Charles I by John Obrisset.

English, early 18th century.

Measures 7.6 x 5.8 x 3.1cm.

The tortoiseshell lid is decorated with the profile of King Charles I (c.1600-1649), the silver mount retains traces of gilding with a gilt interior and a tortoiseshell base.

The tortoiseshell cover is marked ‘OB’, for John Obrisset (c.1705 - 1727), the portrait is after the medal of c.1670 by John Roettiers.
