"Marble Bust Of Minerva From The 17th Century. "
Bust of Minerva or Athena from the 17th century in Carrara marble. This bust was installed at the time in a niche on the facade of a palace, hence its iron pin sealed with lead in the marble. Athena for the Greeks is the goddess of Justice, wisdom and war, taken up by the Romans under the name Minerva. She is wearing a Corinthian helmet, long hair which falls over both shoulders, a short drape above the breastplate carved with scales and which reveals her two breasts. The sculpture has not been cleaned, a small piece of the helmet is missing at the top, the base is not original and the nose has been glued back on.
