Pair of Nubian torchiere holders in gilded and silver polychrome carved wood Venice early 19th century. The Nubians are depicted standing dressed in silver-leafed armor carved with masks and golden scrolls in the center. Their dresses and headdresses are trimmed with polychrome feathers decorated with golden drapes. They carry golden quivers with polychrome arrows slung over their shoulders and support above their heads a golden tray delicately carved with gadroons and draped garlands. They rest on bases with cut sides ending in stylized shells decorated with flowers. Gilding with gold leaf, silver leaf plating and original polychromy in very good condition (old restorations and old wrought iron reinforcements) Venetian work from the beginning of the 19th century.
