"Old Maslaghan Rug, 124 X 198 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool In Persia Under The Kadjar Dynasty, 19th Century"
Antique Maslaghan rug from the mid-19th century in hand-knotted wool in Persia, Iran.
It measures 124 cm wide by 198 cm long, in used condition requiring restoration if desired but can remain like this as an ethnic wall decoration., Typical decoration of the central medallion cut from Maslaghan carpets, placed on a lacerated field large points, recognizable at first glance to all amateurs and having very attractive colors.
Carpet with a very stylized floral decoration followed by its lacerated medallion, a piece of modern art before its time, knotted in a poor and desert province.
# This rug shows some wear which is normal, it is an old rug that has been used for generations, which makes it more beautiful, restoring it is not useful. Its beauty lies in its condition, most 19th century rugs from isolated Iranian regions or the Caucasus show wear, it is extremely rare to find in good or even very good condition.
Only old prayer rugs can be found in good condition, or even in very good condition, being used only for prayer, they are stored very carefully in a cupboard after each prayer and often passed down from generation to generation.
## The small village of Kerdar in Iran is the only place where the Maslaghan are tied. We recognize them, thanks to this large diamond-shaped field with zigzag sides which the spandrels (corners) take up, extending along the edges, and meeting along the length of the carpet, creating a completely unusual decor. Our carpet is largely strewn with flowers: roses, carnations, and daisies, it has a slight resemblance to Minakhani, the pattern of Veramin carpets.
The four spandrels highlight on a midnight blue background, beautiful rows of flowers reflecting all the shades of the carpet.
The medallion in a magnificent plain old pink contrasts completely with the rest of the rug and gives it an intense decorative side.
A Maslaghan of great beauty tied under the Kadjar dynasty,
## The Kadjar dynasty or Kadjars: (Qājār,Qadjar,Qajar,Persian: قاجار) is a Turkmen dynasty which reigned over Iran from 1786 to 1925..
