Charming watercolor representing: Fort Saint Louis in Toulon Signed Fortuné Viguier Frame: 37cm by 27cm View: 20cm by 12cm Fortuné Viguier studied at the Marseille high school[1] then attended the Marseille School of Fine Arts where he studied student of Eugène Lagier, Émile Loubon and Philippe-Auguste Jeanron. He then stayed in Paris where he entered the studio of Léon Bonnat. He returned to Marseille and took a job as an administrator at the Savings Bank, devoting himself to painting after his work. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1869 to 1881, and regularly at the Salon de Marseille. He also exhibited at the Association of Fine Arts in Cannes in 1906 and 1907, at the Society of Friends of the Arts in Bordeaux from 1872 to 1876. He obtained several awards: a silver medal in Toulon in 1873, in Avignon in 1876 and 1877, and in Marseille in 1879 and 1886. Most of his work consists of landscapes and views of the Provençal coastline.
