Beautiful and rare Chinese export desk from the beginning of the 18th century (for the English market) placed on its original support. With blackened and gilded surface decorated in Chinese style with birds, flowers and foliage. An inclined lid with gilt bronze escutcheons which opens to reveal an interior fitted out with nine small drawers and a lidded box. The interior files of the drawers are decorated with calligraphic inscriptions. Bold scrolled and gold legs with cabriole feet.
