Our painting was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1837, No 848. It is the sketch of a very large painting (326 x 262 cm) commissioned in 1831 for the Ministry of the Interior.
It was exhibited at the Luxembourg Museum in the 1860s-1870s, then exhibited at the Louvre Museum.
