Object description :

"Martin Hall : Gilt Sterling Silver Tazza / Centerpiece Dish London 1883 - Flowers, Fruits"
Exceptional Tazza entirely in Vermeil (Gold on Silver) from the Victorian period. Fabulous embossed and chased decoration on the border of the dish with alternating cartouches of Flowers and different Fruits separated by scrolls and scrolling foliage - truly exquisite craftsmanship. The Tazza is raised on a magnificent base also richly decorated, and the stem features a spectacular central knop.
It is punched with the English Standard Hallmark (.925), Hallmarks for LONDON 1883 (date letter "H") and Hallmark of Master Goldsmiths Richard MARTIN & Ebenezer HALL - Martin HALL. Martin Hall is considered one of the best English goldsmiths of the 19th century, winning an award at the "Crystal Palace" in London in 1851 (1st Universal Exhibition). This exceptional, masterly crafted Tazza is in very good condition, with only light signs of use to note.

Height : 15.3 cm
Diameter of Tazza : 23.3 cm
Weight : 676.6 grams
