"The Garden Of The Sphynx, Oil On Canvas By Lilian Coket"
An extraordinary artist, with her Buddhist name: Sister Mirananda, Gopi of Jesus and Yogananda. She posed as a model at the Jullian Academy for a sculpture by André Del Debbio who encouraged her to paint. She exhibited regularly at the Salon des Indépendants during the 50s and 60s. On his death, after a funeral at the Evangelical Church, a Puja was then celebrated at the ABS Chapel in Perreux. Often in the fourth dimension his hallucinatory paintings exude a certain fascination. This painting is signed lower right: Lilian Coket 1950, a label on the back indicates that the work participated in the grand prize of Deauville in 1951 under the title: Jardin du Sphynx.
