Object description :

"Curiosity Pair Of Large Functional Cinema Loudspeakers 1930 - 1950 "
Impressive pair of large circular pavilions with compressions coming from an old cinema on the Landes coast which had been closed for a long time and which were suspended behind a screen. Tested and in perfect working order. Contrary to the idea that one might have from its smaller ancestors on gramophones, the sound here is not at all pinched but natural, full and precise going down very low in frequency, estimated at 180/200hz up to around 10,000/12,000hz, to be combined with one or two bass speakers below 200hz. The compressions were protected with layers of fabric, they are in good condition, all connected in monophonic parallel to a 2.5 watt tube amplifier (not available). At that time, there was no technology capable of restoring more than a few watts, the only solution to compensate for this low power of the amplifiers was to acoustically amplify the sound by using large horns in order to be able to sound large rooms. . These speakers can of course be used in stereophony. Total length 176cm Diameter 93.5cm Other information and photos on request as well as short videos in operation Transport on estimate
