Bibliography: “Les étains normands” by Jean-Claude Commenchal
Of the Norman type with shoulders, this pitcher presents the small variations noted on other clearly marked pitchers of this provenance, with namely a short goblet, a perfectly cylindrical body and a very flared base, as well as the pair of turned threads at the base of the body.
This small Upper Normandy center produces very little and the number of its pitchers listed is very small... For my part, I have only met 5 in almost 50 years!
I recall in passing that pewter pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime.
