Paillard Overture Music Box

beautiful music box by Pailllard. The music box was manufactured by the Paillard company at the end of the 19th century in Switzerland. Paillard was one of the main producers of this type of mechanism and produced high quality music boxes. This box, equipped with a large cylinder (33 cm long and 8 cm thick), plays 6 opera overtures as they appear on the melody chart, in a very beautiful case. Thanks to the large diameter of the cylinder, a melody lasts much longer than one would expect from a "normal" music box. The lid, front and sides of the box are covered with root veneer and netting. On the left and right is a decorated bronze handle. The winding is on the left side of the mechanism, the controls on the right side (2 levers (start/stop and repeat/change)). This music box has NOT been modified and is in good condition, with very nice music, as would be expected from a music box from this manufacturer and of this era.
