"Cabinet Of Curiosity Naturalism Collection Of Shells, Circa 1900"
Very interesting set of shells collected by an amateur between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The shells are classified by size and age either in small cardboard boxes or in glass tubes closed with corks. The labels give information on the collection locations, sometimes the name of the person who collected the specimen for the collector and of course mention the scientific name of the shell. The set is stored in a large red cardboard tray box from Deyrolle, a world-renowned boutique located on rue du Bac in Paris. The Deyrolle house, founded at the beginning of the 19th century, specializes in the sale of items intended for natural history collections, hunting equipment and taxidermy. This set, ideal for a cabinet of cooriosity, is part of an important collection of several hundred boxes collected over several decades.
