Elegant pair of Regency style chairs from the late 19th century. Our chairs are caned and have a curved spacer. Pretty patina and highlights of celadon green on the cameos and some interlacing. The first canework for chairs appeared during the Regency. Very frequently used in the 18th century under the reign of Louis good condition. For canework, rattan was used. It was cut into thin strips 2 to 4 mm wide. The cane was then braided by passing through the holes made in the backs or frames. Our chairs look great in a Provençal or rustic style bedroom.
