"18th Century Oval Gold Snuff Box, Barthélémy Paviet"
Hinged oval-shaped snuffbox chiseled on all sides with parallel lines decorated with small pellets and delimited by a richly worked cord; all surrounding on the upper part of the box a central motif representing a stylized flower with six petals on an amati background. Very beautiful relief on the frame: alternation of 4 pilasters on an amati background delimited by fine braids. Condition: scratches between 3 pellets on the reverse.
Master goldsmith: BP and 2 grains of remedy for Barthélémy Paviet received in 1781.
Charge mark: Farmer general: Henry Clavel 1780-1789.
Discharge hallmark: lapwing head, 1783-1789, Paris.
