Carved Wooden Ship Figurehead On Lacquered Wooden Base

Ship's figurehead in solid wood carved on a base (rear) in black lacquered wood. The wood shows pronounced signs of wear but the general condition is good. The base of the sculpture is worn and shows missing material and characteristic wear suggesting that it has been in sea water. The back of the sculpture is flat which seems to have been rectified and has traces of modern tools. Therefore it is difficult for me to give a date, this sculpture is therefore sold as a decorative object. As such it is very impressive and has a lot of presence.
