Attributed to Georges Van Zevenberghen, 1877-1968, Belgian painter and watercolorist of portraits, genre scenes, landscapes, interiors, nudes and still lifes. Intimate, realistic and post-impressionist. He studied at the Brussels Academy where he became a professor. He perfected his skills in the workshop of Jan Stobbaerts, a decisive encounter for his career. Active in Paris, he exhibits there as well as in Brussels. Member of the “Le Labor” and “Pour l’Art” circles. Member of the Royal Academy. He often uses chiaroscuro effects where shapes dissolve into a vague light. He married the painter Georgette Iserbyt in 1940. Works in the Museums of Brussels, Antwerp, Mons, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Riga and Barcelona. Artist listed at Bénézit, Arto and Piron.
