"Miniature Adriaen Brouwer XVIIth Tavern Drinker Wooden Panel"
This miniature portrait represents a tavern drinker, typical of the 17th century. Concerning the artist, we found on the back a name in pencil "Brouwer". We are not certain as to the painter, as the painting does not bear a signature, however after research on sites such as Artprice, the touch really reminds us of Adriaen Brouwer. We are not talking about attribution, we are not naming the painter with certainty. Adriaen Brouwer (1605-1638) was a painter and draftsman from the Southern Netherlands specializing in genre scenes. Brouwer mainly painted scenes of taverns or tobacco shops, bringing a decisive renewal to the painting of the genre based on old examples of Brueghelian rusticity, but with an incomparable technical refinement which brings these Flemish “guageries” to a great, truly dramatic painting. and moving. The frame has pretty leaf gilding. We report rubbing and scratches, cracks, small white dots, however the work remains in good general condition. Note some wear of the gilding and small gaps on the frame. For the condition, please detail the photos. Feel free to zoom in. The photos are an integral part of the description.
