Superb oil painting on canvas by Jean-Victor BERTIN (1767-1842) representing an animated mountain landscape. Jean-Victor Bertin was born on March 20, 1767 in Paris and died on June 11, 1842 in the same city. He is a French painter, landscape painter of the neoclassical movement, he is considered one of the masters of the school of historical landscape. He painted an abundant production inspired by Italy. His works are present in many French museums including the Louvre and even abroad. This painting features characters in the foreground on a path at the edge of the forest and against a backdrop of waterfall and mountain. Superb quality of the painting, the colors and details are clear, noticeably in the greenery and the sky. Signed lower right and presented in a period gilded wood frame.
