End of the 18th century - 1789 France - Auvergne - Haute Loire Very beautiful folk art box in hand-carved wood, dated 1789. Old Auvergne work of popular art (Puy-en-Velay region) Fir wood box with the magnificent patina entirely hand carved with a knife. Simple and consolidated assembly with forged nails. Metal lock which unfortunately no longer has its key. Lid with forged clasps decorated with rosettes and flowers, the blanks are decorated with wolf teeth and zigzag around rosette motifs. The sides of the box are carved with a nail pattern which makes it unique, not to mention the date 1789 corresponding to the French Revolution!
