"Fireback With The Alliance Arms Of Ignace-pascal Lamyc And Marie Bertrand (78x80cm)"
Very beautifully made fireback, 20th century proof of a 17th century period plaque, in perfect condition, with the alliance arms of Ignace-Pascal Lamyc * (1673-1749), known as "Mylord", baron of Lardeyrol en Velay and Marie Bertrand (1673-?), married in 1689. The coats of arms are topped with a knight's helm with lambrequins, supported by two langued lions. "Ignace-Pascal Lamyc, nicknamed "Mylord", ennobled by the office of Capitoul of Toulouse, twice became 1st Consul of Puy (1723-1724), Advisor to the King, Receiver of the diocese's taxes (1721) and contributed largely in 1737 to the construction of the chapel of Saint François Régis in the College church. This Ignace-Pascal Lamyc had acquired on October 9, 1731 from Ignace de Montboissier-Beaufort-Canillac Baron de Cusse, Lord of Chassaigne, etc. and from Pierre -Charles his son, at the price of 66,000 pounds the barony of Lardeyrol, one of the eighteen diocesan baronies, but he could not however be admitted to take session in the Estates of Velay, his recent status as ennobled not allowing him to demonstrate the several degrees that were required." (G.Paul) *Or his son Aimé Hilaire Lamyc (1695-?) and Françoise Marguerite Bertrand. Marie Bertrand daughter of Vidal (1631-1694), draper, bourgeois of Puy and consul of this city in 1657, 1663 and 1691 and mother of Aimé-Hilaire cited above.
