Period fireback from the end of the 17th century or first quarter of the 18th century, with the arms of Louis Alphonse Frémiot, 1685/95-1739, lawyer at the supreme court of Besançon, Sgr and Baron de la Chaux des Crotenay and dependencies (Chalesmes in small part, Cize or Size, Crans, Entre-Deux-Monts, Montliboz and le Chatelet) in the Jura, barony acquired in 1724 from the Baume de St Amour. His son Jean Baptiste, 1717-1776, was Sgr de la Chaux from 1740 until his death. The Frémiot family established in Besançon, including Jacques, banker and merchant, 1646-1727, father of Louis Alphonse, had his arms registered in the state register in 1697. Fireback from a Bisontine collection from the beginning of the last century . Its weight is 65kg. Note a very slight crack on half of its height. Coat of arms: Azure with three merlettes argent, two and one, on the chief sewn gules.
