Pair of bronze statuettes, Saint John and Mary Magdalene from a calvary, 18th century
These statuettes were originaly at the foot of a calvary. Kneeling down, Saint Mary Magdalene holds the bottom of the cross between her arms and raise look up the Christ. Her head is uncovered and her hair falls in long curls on the back. She wears a tunic encircled at the waist, and a long clothe wrapped in thick pleats around the lower body. Standing up, Saint John wears a long coat folded up his right shoulder. He keeps his right hand on his heart and shows a face distressed by sorrow.
Very good condition, partially brown patina. Index finger on Mary Magdalene right hand is distorted and the middle finger is broken. The little finger on Saint John left hand is missing. Remains of tin under the statuettes.
