Beautiful box in grained black morocco and iron fittings. Mounted on four ball feet, it opens with a slightly domed lid. Beautiful trim of five frets holding the five hinges and ending with a fleur-de-lys finial, cut iron spandrels at the corners, stirrup handle and keyhole with two bent hasps on plate forming a heart. Old key and functional lock. The interior is lined with original white paper. Very good general condition.. France early 17th century. An almost similar copy is reproduced in the catalog of the third sale of Michel Rullier's collection on February 9, 2011 at the Drouot hotel, number 286, page 240 of the catalog.
