"Cast Iron Basin "à l'Antique Et à Deux Anses". Nineteenth Century. Napoleon III"
Interesting cast iron basin from the Napoleon III period. The two scrolled handles - "antique" krater type or kylix vase (Greek vase). This basin can just as easily be displayed outdoors as it can be used as a planter indoors... It is a solid piece with a graceful decor and generous shapes. A fixation on the left handle must be taken again. This object is very imbued with "Greek taste" at a time when the first excavations of the 18th and 19th centuries gave credentials to a new science annexed to history: archaeology. The furniture and objects such as our basin reflect the concern for accuracy of the artists of the time, already acculturated to antique taste since the Renaissance. The foot measures 16 cm/16 cm. A hole in the center to let water drain.
