Beautiful Writing Desk, In Rosewood And Rosewood, Napoleon III - 19th Century - Signed Theodore Année

Beautiful writing desk from the Napoleon III period, engraved Th. Year - rue Chapon in Paris which allows it to be dated precisely between 1856 and 1863. We will remember the elegance of this Small Writing Box, the finesse of its design, and its perfect condition of conservation despite its 160 years! We will appreciate the pretty facades of these two flaps, each decorated with a rosewood decor with symmetrical designs, against a background of precious Rio rosewood recognizable by the fineness of its rows. The edges are dressed with rounded brass rods. The upper part opens using an original key, accompanied by its working lock. We discover three mail compartments forming a rosewood correspondence sorter and revealing four small compartments. The center one has a removable lid with a pull button. On either side, two square spaces still contain their period inkwells. A second flap, inclined and operable only when the first is open, contains a Rosewood work space. The latter is covered with an old green velvet, embellished around its perimeter with friezes. It is provided with a tab at the top which will reveal a final storage compartment, made of Rosewood. Théodore Année specialized in toiletries, small boxes, chests, liquor cabinets, wedding chests and small decorative furniture. He presented numerous creations at the Exhibition of French Industry of 1844, for which he obtained a bronze medal. Among its specialties, very complex and difficult to make marquetry, with fine grid engravings.
