French school of the 18th century, follower of François Boucher. This oil on canvas represents Le Malade Imaginaire by Molière. Following a drawing by François Boucher who produced thirty-three drawings to illustrate the works of Molière, which were used to create prints, the first edition of which dates from 1734. This large canvas measuring 128 cm x 89.5 cm features Argan , seated in the center, on the right his wife Béline places a pillow, while Toinette brings another. Expert: Laurent CALES.
